Ray Anderson on Sustainability

As the world faces ever-increasing environmental challenges so the demand for smart solutions is growing - and more and more pressure is being placed on business to help provide an answer.

Come and hear how one man’s commitment to finding that answer transformed a billion dollar company and how his approach to sustainability is tangible proof that profit and principles really can sit side by side.

Ray Anderson, the Chairman and Founder of Interface Inc, the word’s largest modular carpet company. Long before many companies took up the environmental cause, Ray identified the importance of sustainability, not just in terms of the way we live but also the way we work. The result for his business? Reduced costs, increased innovation, inspired employees and incredible amounts of goodwill.

Ray was a key adviser to the Clinton administration on environmental policy and was one of TIME Magazine’s 2007 “Heroes of the Environment.” He also appeared in the 2003 documentary The Corporation alongside Michael Moore and in Leonardo DiCaprio’s environmental film The 11th Hour.

eco friendly products…?

for this project, we have to be as eco friendly as possible. the project is to sell our own products and i was thinking to get eco friendly packaging stuff. is there any place where i can get recycled or some kind of eco friendly packaging stuff?

Hi!
If you want recycled packaging, then my advice is to just take old newspaper or cardboard in your green bin or other people’s bin.
But if you want to be super eco-friendly, then my advice is to use as little or no packaging as you possibly can. Because the thing with packaging, is that whether consumers recycle it or throw it in the trash, it still damages the earth. With recycling, they have to melt the products and reshape them. That releases carbon dioxide and other harmful gases, which according to some, results in golbal warming.
:)
There’s also this site which may help:

Good luck!

How much money do Verizon Wireless CSR’s Make in Bellevue Washington to Start?

I remember I had applied there a few years ago and they were paying like $13-14/hour, so I’d assume around the same or more now.

Green Teams in your school or business?

I work for an agency that helps set up Green Teams and Green Clubs within schools and businesses. What are some of the things your school or business has done to become more environmentally sustainable? What are some of the things you wish they would do?

Below is part of a Green consultation list I give out to my client to help them go green. The entire list is 87 pages long so it’s to big to put here, but if you’d like the whole thing feel free to visit the website at www agua-luna com or contact me through the site & ill send you a copy. The part I cut & pasted for you here deals entirely with people your age & what they can do in school, etc…

At school…

Protecting the planet can also be part of your daily life at school. Here are a few ideas for getting your friends & teachers involved in the fight to save the planet:

Pack a garbageless lunch, take a reusable container instead.

Join the environmental club if there is one or start your own.

Make environmental studies part of every subject taught in your school.

Brainstorm environmental projects with other students & teachers.

Request a non-toxic environment in your school. Examine your school’s cleaning supplies, lawn care, supplies & paint. Ask your environmental group to come up with a list of environmental guidelines for the school.

Don’t leave taps running while you are not using them.

Turn lights on only when needed & turn them off when you’re done to save energy.

Use recycled paper instead of plastic products.

Take online courses

Save leftover food instead of throwing it away.

Buy products that use the least packaging.

Give away clothing when you’re done with it instead of throwing it away.

Use the public library for books & magazines or give yours when you’re finished with them.

Take a backpack with you when you go shopping to avoid plastic bags.

Plant a tree. Trees can absorb & store huge amounts of carbon dioxide & generate oxygen while purifying the air we breathe. Start the seedling in a pot indoors & plant it outside in spring. Seedlings need a care the first two years, including water, vertical support & mulch, so you will be able to see the tree grow & take its place in the cycle of nature as you care for it.

If you’d like help in making your self sufficient steps, feel free to contact me directly. I’ve written several how-to DIY guides available at www agua-luna com on the subject. I also offer online & on-site workshops, seminars & internships to help others “help the environment”.

Hope this helped, feel free to contact me personally if you have any questions if you’d like assistance in making your first self sufficient steps, I’m willing to walk you step by step threw the process. I’ve written several how-to DIY guides available at www agua-luna com on the subject. I also offer online & on-site workshops, seminars & internships to help others help the environment.

What would be the most sustainability package?

What would be the most sustainability package so i can know and so i know to show im smarter

To really show you’re smarter, you’ll have to start with rephrasing your question. Throwing phrases and words around will likely only get you in over your head. What if someone shows interest and asks why you feel this or that way? Anyway, I’m guessing there’s a word missing in your question. The most "what?" What quality are you looking to quantify?
